Brides.com introduces the year’s latest wedding dresses in their 2006 Runway Report.

May 27, 2006 — Mirror, mirror on the wall, what’s the hottest wedding gown for fall? Choosing the perfect wedding dress is never easy, but Brides.com provides everything a prospective bride needs to make an informed decision. Unveiling the most extensive web collection of Fall 2006 Runway wedding dresses-including intricate close-ups of each gown- Brides.com cordially invites you to view the latest in bridal fashion. Though this fall offers the most enchanted line of wedding dresses yet, with resources like these, it won’t be to hard to find the fairest of them all.

Within the first few clicks, the exquisite workmanship that’s gone into each designer’s fall wedding gown collection becomes apparent. The top ateliers have toiled amid a flurry of seamstresses and tailors to create regal ball gowns fit for marital bliss. The result? The most starkly dramatic, bejeweled, and theatrical wedding dresses. This bounty of bridal dresses beckons one and all to fall’s sultry ball, no glass slippers necessary.

Indeed, magic is the order of the day for fall bridal fashion. From heavy-metal heroines to shipwrecked sea sirens, Brides.com’s fall 2006 runway images captures wedding dresses glazed in fairy tale whimsy,. View models alternately swaying and gliding in glittery bodices and exaggerated trumpet skirts as Brides.com brings you runway-close.

And now, here’s just a few ways fashion’s top wedding dress designers spun straw into gold this season:

The first hint of glint is found in the new color trends. Preppie green and cake-frosting pink melt away as gold, silver, and the most electric shades of robin’s egg blue ignite fall’s bridal gowns for looks that are fresh, eccentric and mesmerizing. These colors are most noticeable in the deliciously original offerings of Justina McCaffrey and Claire Pettibone.

Patterns too, undergo a metamorphosis this season. Last season’s sweet cupcake ruffles intensify to outrageous rivulets of flounce and circumstance when under the magic touch of wedding maven Vera Wang.
But through the vivid depictions of Brides.com virtual runway, it becomes clear the real pattern trendsetter for fall isn’t floral at all. Rather it’s the boldly geometric, ethnic motifs best demonstrated by Lebanese rainmaker Reem Acra. When it comes to acres of tangy, vivacious patterns, decadent fabrics and etchings so intricate they resemble tapestries, there’s no doubt Acra is at the helm.

But what’s a good fairy tale without some enchanting jewels? Via Brides.com’s magic mirror, one can watch as last season’s girlish pearls darkly turn to heavy glistening silvers. These precious metals encrust bodices and bands like elegant armor, as costume jewelry clings like crustaceans for a drippingly beautiful effect.

This jeweled trend is perhaps nowhere more evident than in this season’s centerpiece: the bride’s back. No doubt there’s something magical about a seemingly plain dress that, when pirouetted, reveals a booty of beads, a giant bow that streams from the hips to the tips of the toes, or the low clusters of gaping roses that replace spring’s blushing buds.

Last but not least, no magic show would be complete without a disappearing, reappearing act. In light of the fall’s overtly womanly look, even the most traditional ateliers aren’t adverse to a flash of flesh, a now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t moment. In the time it takes to pull a rabbit out of a hat, thick fabrics give way to sheer panels that swing like doors, obscuring and exposing in time. Sheer cleavage and daring frontal slits abound, adding spice to superstition for a look that is exultantly adult.

Ethnic touches such as Carolina Herrera’s Spanish motifs, the new stark designs, and blatant high-fashion touches make this batch of ball gowns the most evocative and original in years. With wedding dresses like these, who needs a fairy godmother?

The moment you find your dream wedding gown is nothing short of magic. Your tingly sensation awaits at http://www.Brides.com.

What’s hot and what’s not for those tying the knot this year?

The biggest words of the season are ribbons and lace. No, you don’t need to look like an 80’s throwback but somewhere in your plans you must include ribbons and lace to keep up with modern trends.

Designer wedding dresses have been paraded up and down the catwalk absolutely dripping with ribbons. These maybe around the waist, under the bust or trailing from the train. Some quirkier designers have also used ribbons in hair up styles. Of course, unless you are a model, you could look a bit silly on your big day if you go to these lengths.

Wedding dress trends can look dated very quickly and if you want to look back at your pictures without being horrified go for something more subtle. A great way to use ribbons successfully is to incorporate them in your bouquet and other floral decorations.

If you have a large frame or are short, trailing ribbons from your bouquet will add length making you look taller and slimmer. Team colours of your ribbons with those on favour boxes to ensure consistency. You could also choose wedding stationery and place cards that have ribbons on them to add to the idea.

Young bridesmaids can carry off trends better than older ones, so don’t be afraid to give them a hairstyle that includes lots of ribbon. For older bridesmaids, perhaps choose co-ordinating ribbons and tie them to dorothy bags or drawstring pouches.

If you’re a super sexy bride [and blessed with great legs] why not choose bridal shoes with ribbon that you can lace up around your ankles?

And, if you want something trendy that’s for his eyes only, go for a few ribbons on your garter. Guaranteed to impress your groom!!!

Of course, on a more traditional note, lace is the big thing this season too. Beware though, because if you don’t get it right, you could look like you’ve just stepped out of a charity shop. The key - as with any bridal gown - is in the shape.

The material plays a big part, but if you get the shape right, you can carry off any material you want. If you don’t want to go for a completely lace dress, why not keep up with the trends with lace gloves, a lace train or a lace veil?

Team the romantic theme with classical flowers and favours and you’re onto a winner. Again, if you only want to give the suggestion of lace, choose bridesmaid dresses with lace ties. Ensure the men aren’t left out and get them to sport lace handkerchiefs in their top pockets - if you dare.

Don’t be left looking frumpy this year - be the bride with her finger firmly on the pulse and ensure you incorporate ribbons and/or lace somewhere in your plans!

Throw the boring rice and table mints out the window. The modern bride and groom are striving to make their wedding more fun, unique and memorable. With this growing trend toward personalizing every aspect of their wedding day, more and more brides are turning to fortune cookies as their wedding favor of choice.

Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) May 2, 2006 — Throw the boring rice and table mints out the window. The modern bride and groom are striving to make their wedding more fun, unique and memorable. Some grooms have even used Fancy Fortune Cookies to “pop the question.” Brian Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana wrote, “I had arranged with the restaurant to bring my custom cookies out on a plate. They were a yummy dessert, and when my girlfriend opened the cookies, she was elated about the unique proposal and said ‘YES!’”

Fancy Fortune Cookies can be completely customized for any occasion. Each of the 12 different flavors can be dipped in white or milk chocolate, adorned with special toppings, presented in beautiful packaging or, of course, enjoyed “au natural.” To see examples of real fortunes couples have used, visit www.fancyfortunecookies.com, or for more information, call 1-888-776-6611.

Orbitz Helps Wedding Guests ‘Save the Date’ and Plan Travel With New Tool on TheKnot.com

New Travel Tools on TheKnot.com Link Directly to Orbitz for Fast and Easy Booking

NEW YORK and CHICAGO, May 2 /PRNewswire/ — Orbitz, the faster, easier way to find the trip you want, announced today that it has signed on with The Knot (Nasdaq: KNOT; http://www.theknot.com/), the Web’s most trafficked wedding planning destination, to make wedding-related travel easier for couples and their guests.

As part of the interactive wedding planning experience on TheKnot.com, more than a million members can now send wedding guests a personalized electronic “Orbitz Save The Date” card with everything they need to know to about the celebration, including date, location, information on accommodations and a link to book travel on Orbitz.com.

“Planning a wedding is hard enough without having to worry about how your guests will get to the big event,” said Carley Roney, editor in chief of The Knot. “Sending save-the-dates at least 6 months prior to the wedding has become a standard step in the planning process, especially with the increase in destination weddings. We’re excited that Orbitz has come on board with us to provide couples with a new tool designed to get friends and family to your wedding location with the convenience of the Web.”

Couples can find the Orbitz Save The Date tool in the “My Knot” Channel on TheKnot.com. Once on the “Orbitz Save The Date” page, the couple simply enters the wedding date, location and suggested travel and accommodations, including the airport they wish their guests to fly into, the hotel where they recommend guests stay, and their recommendations for local attractions and activities. The Orbitz Save the Date links their guests directly to Orbitz.com where they can check rates and book their entire trip, including hotel, air, car, and destination attractions and services. Weddings can be expensive, and saving an average of $202.00* by booking a packaged trip on Orbitz — flight + hotel, can help couples put a little more cash towards other essentials.

In addition to the Orbitz Save The Date tool, brides can create and send a newsletter to their guests to update them on pre-wedding events such as bridal showers and bachelorette parties.

“Who needs a little TLC more than a couple planning a wedding?” said Randy Wagner, chief marketing officer for Orbitz. “With OrbitzTLC, arranging travel for the big day is the easiest part of planning a wedding.”

About The Wedding Podcast Network:
The Wedding Podcast Network is the first and only place on the web to listen to advice on wedding planning from brides, grooms, newlyweds and wedding professionals. Founded in 2005, Robert Allen and Holli Ehrlich, co-founders married 14 years, know today’s bride is overwhelmed by the challenge of planning for her big day. She is information hungry and constantly on the move. They realized with the advent of the iPod and portable mp3 players that they could create relevant content with an expanded focus on wedding topics and personalities that brides could listen to not found in traditional media. Their podcasts are educational, inspirational and entertaining. Their hopes are to liven up wedding planning for a new generation of savvy brides.

Robert & Holli realized the need for a portable, on demand listening experience – when and where she wants – at the gym, the commute to work, walking her dog, cooking, as a mid-day treat or a night time escape. Discussion-based podcasting is a way for consumers to get information based on their preferences and timing. A bride can listen time and again to podcasts while planning for the wedding of her dreams. The WPN has exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews covered at premiere bridal shows and events. Professionals share thoughts and insights for brides everywhere. Hear stories of romance, emotion and love! Wedding enthusiasts need a break from the mainstream planning resources. The Wedding Podcast Network offers a personal, authentic way to communicate with their listeners with conversations never before heard anywhere else.

What is a Podcast?
A podcast is nothing more than a digital audio file, just like any other song or MP3 file on your computer. It’s what’s inside the file that’s causing all the buzz. Podcasting is the audio equivalent of TiVo. It is available for easy download and can be played on your computer. Podcasting’s essence is about creating audio content for an audience that wants to listen when they want, where they want, and how they want. In the last 18 months, podcasting has emerged as the single most important media innovation since the birth of the web, with an audience of millions generating hundreds of millions of downloads.

Newlyweds use their experience to create a CD of planning checklists and budgeting spreadsheets for other couples taking the plunge.

Guelph ON March 20, 2006 — Newlyweds use their experience to create a CD of planning checklists and budgeting spreadsheets for other couples taking the plunge.

Unlike other wedding planners that tend to be paper-based, My Wedding Manager is reusable, flexible and can be completely customized to the needs of the betrothed. When the wedding is sealed with a kiss the planning files become wedding keepsakes of their own.

Marian and Bryan would say that necessity was the source of their inspiration. Their own wedding in the summer of 2005 made this couple partners in more ways than one. “We used all of the planning tools and templates ourselves” says Bryan. He utilized his accounting background to create the money management tools while Marian designed the numerous checklists and templates. They turned their wedding success into My Wedding Manager to help other couples embark on their new life together.

My Wedding Manager presents couples with an array of spreadsheets to create a budget, track deposits and expenditures and manage vendors. Typical wedding-related expenses are outlined in spreadsheets with built-in calculating capabilities. Anyone who can type can use the budgeting features effortlessly.

Guest list organization; gift registry record-keeping; monthly and weekly To Do checklists; photography, videography and music work sheets are valuable planning aids for a momentous occasion such as a wedding. My Wedding Manager checklists make the planning of all facets of a wedding easier and less stressful. Just like the budgeting spreadsheets, the checklists can all be tailored to a couple’s needs.
